About the yoga: Yoga is taught by Jessie Chapman whose inspirational Yoga classes are designed for all levels from the complete beginner to the more experienced practitioner. You are given lots of individual attention and adjustments in the classes and everyone is well looked after. Click here to read more about Jessie and the yoga.

About the hikes: 'It's about the journey, not the destination'. Jessie has been leading retreats in this region for the past 10 years. When walking we are not hurrying rather we are taking in the sights and sounds and stopping to rest, connect and absorb. Each day we will enjoy some silent walking on our trails to quieten the mind and connect with our surrounds and ourselves. For a few of the longer days hikes we will be with our experienced local hiking guide. The hiking days include some up and down hill, some small trails on forest paths, some higher mountain walks and some flatter walks. People in good health and of all ages have managed the hikes well. Walking poles are recommended for people with knee issues or just to give extra support.

Getting to the Retreat: Our scheduled pick-up and meeting place on the first day is at Pau Train Station. Pau is the gateway to the Pyrenees of South West France and is located 1.5 hours inland from Biarritz and 2 hours from Bordeaux. Most guests will opt to stay in Pau the night before at a hotel or AirBNB. More information about how best to get to Pau is emailed to you upon registering or you can email us for more information. We can also assist you with flight bookings.

Arrival Day: Our group meeting place on the first day is at 8.30 am at the Pau Railway Station. From Pau we will travel together to our first hiking destination and make our way to our retreat via a half days hiking adventure. Once we arrive into our village we will have time to settle into our rooms, rest, shower and relax before our first yoga class and group welcome followed by our evening meal together.

Departure Day: On the last morning of the retreat yoga will finish at 8.30 am followed by breakfast before we pack up our bags and head out on foot for our final hike back to the station and back to Pau. Our bags are transported for us back to the train station on the first and last day of the retreat so we do not carry our bags or suitcases on these 'getting there on foot' hikes. Full details are emailed upon registering.

"Thank you for the wonderful retreat. Every aspect of the experience was beautifully organised and flowed with ease. Lovely people, stunning location, varied program and excellent yoga teaching. I came home feeling rested and inspired."
Wendy, 61, Retired Educator - Pyrenees Yoga & Hiking Retreat

"I had a great time at the retreat. It was the perfect combination of my two favourite things: yoga and hiking. Jessie is an amazing character who has a beautiful energy and temperament who can tailor the yoga to anyone from the beginner to a more advanced person. Being with like-minded people and sharing the experience was also amazing."
Aysha, 36, Senior Marketing Manager - France Yoga & Hiking Retreat

"What a fantastic way to step outside the hectic routine of life and spend a week in France. It was such a great way to experience such a gorgeous country, all the while stretching and invigorating mind and body, simply perfect."
Josanne, Marketing Director - France Retreat

"Thank you for the great experience you provided in a truly wonderful part of the world. I enjoyed it immensely. I could feel my body responding and "waking up". It was a powerful experience. My breathing awareness also improved. The hikes were fantastic and exploring the villages and the markets were all wonderful experiences. There was just so much to do, and we didn't want to miss out on anything!"
Melissa, Physiotherapy Manager – France Retreat

"When I signed up for the retreat I hadn’t done any yoga for over 3 years due to various factors and I was not sure what it would be like. I was very surprised to find that by day 5 there was a large improvement, much more than I anticipated. The retreat surpassed my expectations in many areas. I felt I was in a very safe, supportive space while at the retreat, something I haven’t experienced for a long time. I didn’t want it to end! The hiking was beautiful and, for me, very challenging as this was my first time ever. The scenery was worth it and the feeling of accomplishment was extraordinary. I’d love to go every year Jessie. I had an amazing experience - it totally surpassed my expectations."
Claire, 51 - France Retreat

“If it is possible to have a better balanced ‘holiday’, we can’t imagine one. Jessie’s France Retreat had more than enough daily yoga to qualify as a proper ‘yoga retreat’, with that ability Jessie has to satisfy beginners through to yoga lifers equally well.  But with the added attractions of hiking in the most fabulous mountains we have seen in a long time. Jessie is the perfect host, caring and concerned about her disciples at all times, personable and approachable and always fun, and a shining inspiration to everyone lucky enough to meet her."
Andrew, 42, Consultant & Jane, 41, Pharmacist - France Retreat

"They say “life isn’t measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away” and that is exactly what happened to me on our wonderful retreat in France. We all shared so many adventures, sightseeing and lots of interesting conversations not forgetting all our invigorating / restful yoga, guided by Jessie who is an inspiration. The Pyrenees hiking was spectacular, so overwhelmingly beautiful. This is the second retreat I have done with Jessie and certainly hope it won’t be my last."
